The state pays off billions of debts of district heating companies

The Ministry for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine will allocate UAH 26.9 billion to local budgets to repay the debts on the difference in tariffs of district heating companies and water and sewage utilities to NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine, the Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksii Chernyshov said.

The Ministry for Communities and Territories Development sent suggestions on amendments to the State Budget-2021, supported by the Verkhovna Rada.

The settlement of arrears in the difference in tariffs is to be allocated as follows: district heating companies – UAH 22.45 billion, water and sewage utilities – UAH 4.45 billion.

Local budgets must receive funds by the end of the year.

To recap, the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development has begun the process of restructuring the debt of district heating companies.

At the end of September, local authorities and the government signed a Memorandum on the terms of tariff setting during the heating season.
