Denmark will provide Ukraine interest-free loans for RESrenewables

Ukraine and Denmark signed an agreement, according to which Danish government organization Danida Business Finance will provide interest-free loans for renewables, energy efficiency supply and treatment of water projects in Ukraine.

Under the agreement, Denmark will issue interest-free loans in dollars or euros, which will cover 100% of the project cost. Such projects can have a budget of up to 100 million euros or more.

“The signing of the agreement is the result of the long, hard work of both parties. Cooperation with Danish partners will allow us to effectively raise funds for the implementation of new projects aimed at ensuring sustainable development and economic growth. Such a step, of course, expands the horizons of investment opportunities for Ukraine”, the Finance Minister of Ukraine, Oksana Markarova said.

Under the terms of the program, interests are compensated by the government of Denmark, their repayment period can be up to 10 years. Projects will be implemented by Danish suppliers and other partners.

It was reported earlier that in 2019, the international company EuroCape New Energy plans to install the first wind turbines with a capacity of 98 MW for the construction project of a large wind farm in Zaporizhzhia region. The installed capacity of the first stage of the wind farm will be 225 MW, in the future it can be expanded to 500 MW.
