The DAM prices: interesting results of February

The weighted average price on the DAM in February 2021 increased by 10.58% compared to January 2021 and amounted to UAH 1,637.98/MWh. Compared to February 2020, it increased by 28.83%.

In February 2021, the weighted average price in the IPS increased by 11.63% and amounted to UAH 1,632.56/MWh. The price also increased by 1.76% and amounted to UAH 1,688.13/MWh on Burshtyn energy island.

In the first two decades of February 2021, there was a shortage of offers at the DAM and IDM in the IPS of Ukraine, so hourly prices on such days were maximum or close to maximum, especially during peak hours.

On some days of February on the DAM in the IPS of Ukraine, there was an increase in the volume of offers at low prices in the day zone by the DAM/IDM participants, especially from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., which, with a decrease in demand, led to a decrease in hourly prices.

On the DAM and IDM on Burshtyn energy island, hourly prices almost did not deviate from price limits at night hours, on most days there was a surplus of offers for the sale of electricity in the day zone, but prices remained high. This is due to the pricing policy of the DAM /IDM participants.
