In March electricity prices on the DAM increased, volumes decreased
Cost indicators
In March 2020, the total cost of purchased-sold electricity on the DAM amounted to UAH 7,040.23 million (including VAT), which is 6.13% higher compared to February (UAH 6,633.34 million).
In the IPS of Ukraine, the cost of electricity on the DAM amounted to UAH 6,273.73 million, which is 7.01% more than in February, and on the Burshtyn TPP Island – UAH 766.5 million, which is 4.19% less than in February.
Prices
The weighted average price of electricity on the day-ahead market in March 2020 amounted to 1 391.23 UAH/MWh. This is 9.42% more than in February.
In the IPS of Ukraine, in comparison with February, the weighted average price of electricity in March increased by 11.24% and amounts to 1,370.54 UAH/MWh.
On the Burshtyn TPP Island, the weighted average price decreased by 5.44% compared to the previous month, and amounts to 1,587.41 UAH/MWh.
In March, hourly prices significantly deviated from price caps, at night on the DAM in the IPS of Ukraine prices were close to price restrictions. This is due to a decrease of bids for sale with a low level of price offers at night compared to the month of February, Market Operator explaines.
Volumes
In March, changes in the volumes of sale and purchase of electricity in trading zones, as compared to February, are as follows: on the DAM in the IPS of Ukraine – 3,814.64 GWh, which is 3.79% less; in the Burshtyn TPP Island – 402.38 GWh, which is 5.08% higher.
The total volume of purchase and sale of electricity on the DAM and IDM is 4,578 GWh, which is 0.21% less than in February 2020.
