On January 1-2, NPP capacity limits will be in effect – Ukrenergo

NPC Ukrenergo during the holidays will limit the capacity of nuclear power plants for the period from January 1-2 to 9 500-10 000 MW. This was reported by the press service.

Limitations are related to the fact that during the holidays the level of total electricity consumption in the power system is traditionally reduced. After that, the return of nuclear power plants to the previously planned work schedule is provided.

The company also noted that imports to the IPS of Ukraine from Belarus and the Russian Federation are limited to zero during all hours of the day for the entire holiday period – January 1-7, 2020.

“Thus, the capacity limitations of nuclear power plants in January 2020 are short-term and should not lead to an increase in either Ukrenergo’s tariff or the final cost of electricity, and even more so, an increase in the share of imports in Ukraine’s IPS”, the statement said.

As reported Ukraine had continued the life of the NPP’s unit before the completion of the project term.
