Boyko: It will not be possible to pay off the debts of the old energy market this year
Acting Minister of Energy of Ukraine Yurii Boyko said that it would not be possible to resolve the issue of paying off debts formed before introducing the new model of the energy market this year, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
“Next year, I hope, we will return to the issue of paying off the debts of the old model of the energy market, since we will objectively no longer be able to implement the law adopted this year,” he said at an online briefing on Thursday.
Earlier, the Ministry of Energy reported that debts on the electricity market by the end of the year could reach UAH 40 billion.
As a reminder, as a result of the adoption of Law No.4119, NPC Ukrenergo received government guarantees to attract credit funds from state banks, the EBRD, and other international financial organizations on preferential terms.
