Acting Minister of Energy and Environmental Protection Olha Buslavets appealed to the National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission with an appeal to urgently monitor and influence the situation on the electricity market due to the very low price on the day-ahead market.
She stated this during a meeting of the Ministry of Energy and Environmental Protection on the implementation of the decisions of the Anti-Crisis Headquarters, Kosatka.Media reports.
Buslavets explained that the price on the DAM reached its minimum in the entire history of the market – 68 kopecks. This is 2 times less than the average weighted prices over the past weeks.
“This only says that a healthy market cannot work like that. This leads us to an energy default, as there will be even more debts for the generation. Who should respond to this? We have an independent Regulator in the energy sector. It is his responsibility to monitor and respond to the situation that arises on the electricity market,” the acting Minister emphasized.
Buslavets called on NEURC to take “all measures that have been worked out by the Anti-Crisis Headquarters regarding stabilization of the situation by making appropriate decisions according to market rules for which the Regulator is responsible.”
Also acting Minister noted that NEURC had ignored the invitation to participate in the meeting of the Ministry of Energy and Environmental Protection to implement the decisions of the Anti-Crisis Headquarters.
