Volodymyr Evdokimov, ex-member of the Energy and Utilities the National Regulatory Commission, is appointed the director of the state owned enterprise Market Operator

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has appointed Volodymyr Evdokimov, a former member of the Energy and Utilities the National Regulatory Commission, the director of the SOE Market Operator.

Due to the presence of negative publications in the web, the Deputy Prime Minister Pavlo Rozenko expressed concern about the appointment of Evdokimov to the position of the Head of the company.

In turn, the Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman said that with respect to Evdokimov, an additional test would be conducted, the outcome of which will determine whether the decision made will come into effect.

“Let's put it this way: we will approve the decision, and then we will additionally look at the situation, if there were any inconsistencies with the law, we simply will not enforce the decision”, he said.

On April 17, 2019, the Cabinet of Ministers created two new state owned enterprises, the Market Operator and the Guaranteed Buyer, on the basis of the state owned enterprise Energorynok.

These enterprises are necessary to ensure the functioning of a competitive wholesale electricity market.
