Donbasenergo is no longer a money-losing venture

PJSC Donbasenergo is no longer a money-losing venture to NPC Ukrenergo. The connection of Slavyanska TPP to the United Energy System of Ukraine is expected on August 12, 2021.

This was reported by the press service of the enterprise, according to Kosatka.Media.

The company recalled that in early July there was an avalanche collapse in electricity prices. Along with systematic manipulations in the market and imperfection of regulatory norms, within the framework of which the power generation of Ukraine is forced to operate, it has led to the impossibility of the Company to fulfil its financial obligations to Ukrenergo.

Donbasenergo is restoring its work in difficult conditions and with significant price fluctuations in the day-ahead market. We expect further steps from the country's leadership regarding the formation of an economically justified price for non-energy resources, which would allow thermal generation to fulfil its obligations regarding the accumulation of coal for a stable passage of the 2021/2022autumn-winter period and bring thermal generation out of the systemic crisis,” Oleh Larionov Commercial Director of Donbasenergo said.

As of 01.08.2021 60.86% of shares of PJSC Donbasenergo belong to the Private Joint Stock Company ENERGOINVEST HOLDING, 25% + 1 share – to the state represented by the State Property Fund of Ukraine.

Donbasenergo unites two power plants: Slavyanska and Starobeshevska TPPs (the latter has been located on the territory not controlled by Ukraine since 2014). Since March 2017, the performance indicators of assets located in the temporarily occupied territory in Donetsk region are not included in the consolidated reporting of Donbasenergo due to the loss of control over them.

The total installed capacity of the Slavyanska TPP is 880 MW.
