Energoatom proposed a market stabilization plan

At a meeting of the working group of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) on the problematic issues of the functioning of the energy sector, head of NNEGC Energoatom Petro Kotyn made a presentation on the Anti-Crisis Measures Program of Energoatom, the press service reports.

He said that Energoatom proposes to revise the Forecast Balance of Electricity of the IPS of Ukraine for 2020 in the direction of increasing the share of nuclear power plants in the structure of electricity production to a level that corresponds to actual consumption in the “base” schedule.

Kotyn noted the need to change the current model of fulfillment of PSO by Energoatom.

“Therefore, Energoatom proposes the introduction of direct relations between the Company and universal service providers regarding the sale of electric energy to the population, the volume of which should be up to 50% of the total electricity production at Ukrainian nuclear power plants,” said Petro Kotyn.

He expressed his conviction that the steps proposed by the company will guarantee in the short term a way out of the crisis for Energoatom, and comfortable sums in electricity bills for population.

Recall, Energoatom proposed to reduce the volume of PSO to 50%.

Earlier it was reported that the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine supported the proposal of the Ministry of Energy and Environmental Protection to reduce PSO for Energoatom from 85% to 80% of the volume of electricity production at nuclear power plants with the possibility of selling 5% of electricity under direct contracts.
