Power unit No.2 of Zaporizhzhia NPP put into scheduled preventive overhaul

On March 13, 2019, at 00:04 am, unit No.2 of the Zaporizhzhia NPP was disconnected from the grid and brought into scheduled overhaul. Duration of repair will be 160 days. The press service of the company Energoatom announced it.

During the repair period it is planned to perform the following regular maintenance:

• overhaul: reactor installation with full unloading of the core and control of the reactor vessel, steam generator-1, main circulation pump-3, electric motor of the main circulation pump-3, emergency reserve tank of boric acid solution, heat exchanger for emergency cooling, technologically interconnected equipment — turbogenerator-pathogen-switch and minor repairs of the conductor;

• medium repairs of a steam turbine with opening of a low-pressure cylinder-2;

• minor repairs of phases A, B, С of the             package transformer -2.

Control and preventive work will also be carried out on the containment prestressing system.

The radiation background at the industrial site and in the sanitary protection zone (the area around the nuclear power plant with a radius of 2.5 km) is 8-12 mRh, which corresponds to the natural radiation background at the location of the Zaporizhzhia NPP.

It was reported earlier that power unit No.3 of Zaporizhzhya NPP was connected to the grid on March 12 after the completion of minor repairs.
