Power unit No.3 of Rivne NPP is connected to the grid

NNEGC Energoatom informs that on March 9, 2021, at 6:34 p.m., after the completion of PMDO of power unit No.3 (VVER-1000) of Rivne NPP, it was connected to the grid.

Now a planned increase in the power unit's capacity is taking place, it is happening at a regulated following the Start-up Program, and soon it will reach a capacity of 1000 MW. This will strengthen the domestic power grid.

“Power unit No.3 has been under repair since November 14, 2020. During the maintenance work, we performed all the routine maintenance, several measures to improve safety, as well as modernization works necessary for better handling of spent nuclear fuel using Holtec International technology,” the message says.

On March 10, 12 out of 15 Ukrainian power units are in operation, the total current capacity is 11,315 MW.

To recap, during the first week of March, electricity consumption exceeded the forecasted figure by 5.5%.

As reported, Ukrenergo and the Slovak transmission system operator agreed on emergency mutual assistance.
