NNEGC Energoatom informs that today at 0:25 a.m. the power unit No.5 of Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant with a capacity of 1000 MW is connected to the network. All six power units of the station are in operation.
“For the first time in the history of the Ukrainian nuclear power giant in Europe, Zaporizhzhia NPP has reached its full design capacity of 6,000 MW,” the message says.
It should be reminded that the plant got the opportunity to operate all six million-plus power units at full capacity at the end of last year, thanks to the commissioning of a 750 kV overhead power transmission line from ZNPP to the Kakhovska substation. Due to the insufficient transmission capacity of the existing power lines, ZNPP operated with a maximum capacity of 5300 MW.
Earlier it was reported that ZNPP extended the life of power unit No.5.
