SBI investigates nuclear power generation restrictions

The State Bureau of Investigation launched a preliminary investigation into the possible illegal actions of officials of the Ministry of Energy and Environmental Protection of Ukraine. This was reported by the press service.

“Officials of the Ministry approved the updated forecast balance of electricity of the Integrated Power System of Ukraine for 2020. It envisages the withdrawal of the state-owned enterprise of the nuclear industry economy to the reserve and work at reduced capacity of power units. But the volume of electricity purchases from private companies has been increased,” the report said.

The Bureau noted that in this regard, there is a decrease in nuclear production by 8.6%, which may lead to a shutdown of nuclear power units, losses to the State budget of Ukraine and the bankruptcy of a state property, which is of strategic importance for the economy and security of the state.
