Kyiv’s citizens paid almost 40 billion UAH for electricity to the wrong company

Since January 1, 2019, after the switching to a new retail electricity market, a part of residents mistakenly made payments for the electricity consumed in January to the accounts of the old supplier in a sum of about 39 million UAH.

“Some Kyiv’s citizens paid for services for the consumed electricity in 2019 to the accounts of the distribution system operator “DTEK Kyiv Electric Networks”. As of February 1, 39 million UAH was in its accounts”, said the operator “DTEK Kyiv Electrical Networks”.

The company assured that by the end of February, they would independently return the funds to the personal accounts of the customers of the universal service provider of “Kyiv Energy Services” LLC.

“Customers do not need to issue any documents for this, write statements, call or come to customer service centers. The process will continue until the end of February ", the report says.

The retail electricity market began to operate on January 1, 2019. The company “DTEK Kyiv Electric Networks” plays the role of the electricity distribution system operator in Kyiv. “Kyiv Energy Services” LLC supplies electricity to the population and small non-residential consumers.
