The number of electricity suppliers in Ukraine has doubled – the National Regulatory Commission

For 8 months of 2019, the number of companies licensed to supply electricity doubled in Ukraine, from 263 (January 1, 2019) to 552 (August 31, 2019). This was reported by Oksana Krivenko, Сhairman of the National Energy and Utilities Regulatory. Of these, 48 have licenses for the supply of natural gas.

In 2019, there was a transition of consumers to independent electricity suppliers and the share of the latter increased to 57%. The share of the supplier of “the last resort” is 1%.

As of September 1, 2019, almost in all regions of Ukraine, the number of suppliers at unregulated prices exceeds 150.

At the meeting the Regulator also discussed problems and challenges, among which the low level of consumers’ payments to the supplier of “the last resort”, the unresolved definition of “vulnerable consumers”, the settlement of electricity distribution issues for certain consumer groups, and so on.
