The Ministry of Energy is to hold weekly meetings to monitor preparations for the next heating season

On May 28, First Deputy Energy Minister Yurii Vlasenko held a meeting with key participants engaged with preparations for the autumn-winter period – NPC Ukrenergo and NNEGC Energoatom to enhance coordination of actions in the preparation process, the press service of the Ministry of Energy reports.

The Ministry of Energy has developed and sent for approval to the interested central executive authorities an Action Plan for the preparation of fuel and energy complex facilities for the autumn-winter period and its passage. Now the submitted proposals are being worked out and prepared for submission to the Cabinet of Ministers for approval.

According to Yurii Vlasenko, the Ministry, without waiting for the approval of the Action Plan, together with the enterprises of the electric power complex, have already completed several tasks.

annual schedules of repairs and modernization (reconstruction) of power plant equipment were optimized, in particular, the operation of NPP power units. Such optimization made it possible to increase the capacity of the State Enterprise NNEGC Energoatom during the energy deficit period and to attract the NPP power units to the maximum extent possible during the autumn-winter period of 2021/2022.

the updated Forecast of the electricity balance of the unified energy system of Ukraine for 2021 was approved, which, among other things, provides for an increase in production at nuclear power plants by 6.1 billion kWh compared to the previous estimate.

Based on the updated balance and considering the expected operating modes of the power system in the 2021/2022autumn-winter period, the Ministry is preparing to update the schedule for the accumulation of coal and reserve fuel volumes for 2021.

the accumulation of coal in the TPP warehouses continues. In particular, since the end of the autumn-winter period (01.04.2021), coal stocks in the warehouses of TPPs and ChPPs have increased by 625 thousand tons, reaching 1.2 million tons.

As a result of the meeting, it was decided that after the government approves the Action Plan, such meetings (in an expanded format) will be held in the Ministry every week to monitor the implementation of the plan.

To recap, the Ministry of Energy reported that since 2016 the share of thermal generation has decreased by 5%.
