The capacity of hydroelectric installation No.2 of Kyiv PSP was increased to 46.8 MW

In July 2019, the hydraulic unit No.2 of Kyiv PSP was put into trial operation. From this time until the end of September, during the research phase, the conformity of equipment and systems with technical specifications was determined. This was reported by the press service of Ukrhydroenergo.

Since October 1, 2019, the hydraulic unit No.2 of Kyiv PSP was put into commercial operation, after the reconstruction, the capacity of the hydraulic unit increased by 5.8 MW and now amounts to 46.8 MW.

Yaroslav Kasianiuk, Director of the Cascade of Kyiv HPPs and PSPs, emphasized the importance of further reconstruction of existing hydraulic units, since this allows increasing operating capacity, improving environmental standards and reliability of units, as well as extending equipment life by 40 years.

“Now we have put the hydraulic unit No.2 into operation. We have begun work on hydraulic unit No.6 and are preparing for the reconstruction of hydraulic unit No.4. During the operation of hydraulic unit No.2, an increase in the capacity and efficiency of the unit was confirmed and thereby we achieve our goals”, said Yaroslav Kasianiuk.

Reconstruction of hydraulic units of Kyiv PSP is carried out at the expense of the European Investment Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
