The 4th hydroelectric installation was launched at Dnistrovska PSP

Yesterday, August 17, hydroelectric installation No.4 was launched at Dnistrovska PSP in generator mode, the press service of Ukrhydroenergo reports.

Synchronized and connected to the grid, the hydroelectric installation reached a nominal load of 324 MW, and the power of the station reached 1296 MW in generator mode and 1684 MW in pumping mode.

The launch of the hydroelectric installation ensures a decrease in the number of starts of TPPs’ units, which in turn will lead to saving coal and gas and stabilizing the load.

“The 4th hydroelectric installation of Dnistrovska PSP will save 300 thousand tons of coal and gas worth $60-70 million a year. We have been building this hydroelectric unit for four years and undertake to build hydroelectric installations No.5, 6, 7 in 6.5 years. Today we have a new PSO model; we will pay UAH 1 billion for the Guaranteed Buyer in advance to achieve an acceptable tariff for the population. Next year, UAH 4 to 5 billion annually will be needed for the PSO. The main thing for us is the development of capacities, which will allow us to cover the PSO and restrain the growth of tariffs,” Ihor Syrota, General Director of Ukrhydroenergo said.

The construction of Dnistrovska PSP is an integral part of the State Energy Strategy until 2035. According to the project, the station will consist of 7 hydroelectric units with a total capacity of 2268 MW in generator mode and 2947 MW in pumping mode.
