The National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission approved new tariffs for Ukrenergo

The new tariffs take into account the actual performance of the company in the first half of the year and the government's decision to increase the deduction of part of the net profit from 75 to 90%, in connection with which the sources of funding were revised to ensure that Ukrenergo fulfills its tax obligations fully.

In the new market, Ukrenergo will have two tariffs: for electricity transmission – 34.74 kopecks/kWh and for dispatching management – 0.89 kopecks/kWh.

At the same time, the issue of imposing PSO to ensure the availability of electricity for residential consumers – compensation to providers of universal services for the difference in electricity tariffs is still unresolved.  This issue is currently being finalized in the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

“If a decision is made to impose such obligations on Ukrenergo, the company will not have financial sources to fulfill these specific obligations.  The current tariff setting procedures for licensees do not allow changing the tariff earlier than within seven weeks.  Despite this, the imposition of special obligations on the transmission system operator is generally impossible.  Therefore, we appeal to the government and ask to take this into account when making the final decision”, said Vsevolod Kovalchuk, the Head of Ukrenergo.

Earlier it was reported that the National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission allowed NPC Ukrenergo to operate in the new wholesale electricity market, which is scheduled to start on July 1, 2019, under the old license until the company passes certification.
