On Monday, June 10, the President Volodymyr Zelensky submitted two draft laws to the Verkhovna Rada – on the electricity market and on alternative energy sources. This was announced by the representative of the Head of state in the government, Andriy Gerus.
The draft law No.10376 regarding changes to the law “On the electricity market” provides for the delay of a new model for one year – July 1, 2020.
“Unfortunately, in 2 years the relevant work on preparation for a new market has not been done. Therefore, in order to prevent a sharp increase in tariffs and crises in the electricity market, a delay of a new market model for a year was initiated”, wrote Gerus.
He also announced plans to develop a monthly plan for preparing for the relevant changes.
The draft law No.10375 concerns amendments to the Law “On Alternative Energy Sources”. It is proposed to restore the “green” tariff to households that have home ground SPPs with a capacity of up to 30 kW.
“The zeroing of such tariffs for small-scale power stations of Ukrainians, who have invested their savings in domestic SPPs, is very unfair. But such a law, unfortunately, was adopted and signed by the previous president Poroshenko. Therefore, now the President Zelensky is initiating the Parliament to correct such a mistake and restore justice”, the expert said.
Both draft laws have been assigned urgent status.
