The Verkhovna Rada supported in the first reading the bill on energy storage systems

295 People's Deputies of the Verkhovna Rada supported in the first reading the bill "On Amendments to Certain Laws of Ukraine on the Development of Energy Storage Systems" No. 5436-d, which ensures the use of energy storage systems in Ukraine, which should balance the operation of the energy system and increase the stability of power supply for consumers, UNIAN reports.

“It is critically important for us to start using energy storage devices in the country because it will make it possible to accumulate and deliver electricity during peak periods, namely in the morning and in the evening,” said Andrii Herus, Chairman of the Committee on Energy and Housing and Utilities.

People's Deputy, member of the profile committee Yurii Kamelchuk, presenting the bill, noted that energy storage units will be able to provide electricity to individual houses and even entire neighbourhoods. Energy can be supplied to them both from classical and renewable energy sources.

According to the explanatory note, the task of energy storage systems is to optimize electricity production by aligning the load schedule for both the power plant and the electric power infrastructure.

Energy storage systems help to maintain the reliable operation of the energy system as a whole. With their help, there is an easier integration of power facilities of "green" generation into the energy system of Ukraine and ensures the reliability of the planned schedule of power delivery to the grid.
