The distribution system operator DTEK PES Energovuhillya, fulfilling the application of the supplier of the “last hope” Ukrinterenergo, will partially disconnect Voda Donbasa utility from the power supply, which supplies water to the entire Donetsk region, from May23. The press service of the company announces it.
“On May 15, DTEK PES Energovuhillya received a new application from the supplier of the “last hope” to cut off power supply to Voda Donbasa utility on May 23, 2019, according to the Law of Ukraine “On the Electricity Market”and the Rules of the Electricity Retail Market, the the distribution system operator has to fulfill Ukrinterenergo’s order and stop electricity supply to consumers who are not fulfilling their obligations to pay electricity bills”, a statement said.
DTEK PES- Energovuhillya reminds that on April 1, 2019, they were already forced to comply with the requirement of Ukrinterenergo and cut off the power supply to the utility. At the same time, in May, without finding a supplier, Voda Donbasa received a license to consume electricity from 1 May.
It gave the company the right to independently supply electricity directly from the state enterprise Energorynok. After 6 days, the supply was stopped due to violation of the terms of payment – the company was unable to pay for electricity for subsequent periods. On May 7, Energorynok sent a notice of termination of supply.
On May 7, Voda Donbasa became a client of Ukrinterenergo again, which sent a message to the distribution system operator for shutting down for debts.
From January 1, 2019, the electricity market reform came into force in Ukraine. Enterprises, organizations, institutions, whose contractual capacity of electrical installations exceeds 150 kW, had to select their electricity supplier by December 11, 2018 and conclude an agreement with it on market conditions. Companies that did not find a supplier in the new market, according to art. 64 of the Law of Ukraine “On the Electricity Market” and the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers, automatically become customers of the supplier of the “last hope”.
