Shmyhal: From August 1, the electricity tariff for the population will remain unchanged

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said that from August 1, the electricity tariff for the population will be unchanged at UAH 1.68 per kWh, Kosatka.Media reports.

“The government approved the corresponding decision today. Together with all stakeholders, we are working to balance the electricity market,” he emphasized.

He also noted that preparations for the heating season are underway. This year, the process is taking place in new conditions: now the tariffs for heat and hot water are completely set by local authorities.

“This is an important part of the decentralization reform because such innovations are pushing local leaders to no longer turn a blind eye to the inefficiency of their own utilities,” the prime minister said.

To recap, the Ministry of Energy expected that the new PSO on the electricity market for the population would start working on August 1 this year.
