Ukrenergo initiated the launch of a new investment project with the EBRD worth €149 million

NPC Ukrenergo plans to expand cooperation with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), in particular in the form of launching a new investment project Modernizing the power transmission network of Ukrenergo worth €149 million.

The project provides for the replacement of transformer equipment and the reconstruction of 12 substations of 750–330 kW using automated process control systems. Automated systems will increase the safety and reliability of power transmission, will allow the introduction of modern remote control technologies for power facilities.

EBRD noted a great progress in project implementation and expressed interest in the speedy preparation of a new substation automation project. This decision was made by the EBRD after checking the investment portfolio with Ukrenergo.

Currently, at the expense of the EBRD, Ukrenergo is implementing projects for the construction of a 750 kW overhead line Rivne NPP - Kyivska and a 750 kW transmission line Zaporizhzhia NPP - Kakhovska worth €310 million.

Ukrenergo notes that these projects are the most ambitious in terms of construction and importance. The energy strategy of Ukraine and the plan for the development of the energy system envisage the construction of two system-forming lines of 750 kW.

Twice a year, the EBRD updates the project implementation status to monitor the effectiveness of their implementation, identify risks for their timely elimination. In September 2018, there was a previous revision of the EBRD investment portfolio.
