Ukrenergo may get UAH 1.2 billion loan to revamp substations

The Ministry of Energy announced that NPC Ukrenergo may get loans to revamp 8 substations in accordance with ENTSO-E standards.

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the draft law "On Amending Article 6 of the Law of Ukraine "On the State Budget of Ukraine for 2021" under the project "Increasing the efficiency of electricity transmission (Revamping of substations) II") at a meeting on December 2.

The amendments to the law are to create a legal basis for providing the state guarantee to ensure the payment of debt obligations by NPC Ukrenergo within a joint project with a credit institution (KfW, a state bank of the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany) (the amount of which is UAH 1.2 billion).

NPC Ukrenergo will be able to get a direct loan to revamp 8 substations in the South-Western part of Ukraine: Vinnytska 750 kV, Vinnytska 330 kV, Bar 330 kV, Koziatyn 3 kV, Kamianets-Podilska 330 kV, "Khmelnytska 330 kV, Shepetivka 330 kV, Chernivetska 330 kV.

The revamping will permit equipment to be controlled remotely from the control centre and will make substations high-tech automated power facilities that meet the ENTSO-E requirements on the reliability of the power transmission system and network security.

To recap, NEURC increased the electricity transmission tariff for 2022.

As reported, the Energy Community approved the certification of NPC Ukrenergo.
