The Ministry of Energy discussed strategic cooperation with the European Investment Bank

Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko held a working meeting with the head of the European Investment Bank in Ukraine Jean-Erik de Zagon, they discussed possible areas of strategic partnership in the energy sector, the press service reports.

“We are working on updating our energy strategy, taking into account the new goals and challenges facing Ukraine. This is the European Green Deal, and the transformation of coal regions, and the introduction of new energy storage technologies and the like. The main task for the Ministry is to ensure that the energy system works stably, ”the minister stressed.

Now the Ministry of Energy is primarily working on the implementation of transparent rules in the electricity market to make it more predictable and confidently achieve synchronization of the Ukrainian energy system with ENTSO-E.

Among the promising areas that are interesting for the joint implementation of the Ministry of Energy and the EIB, the parties announced the development of hydrogen energy, energy efficiency and hydropower projects. In the latter direction, the Ministry of Energy is already cooperating with the Bank in the implementation of the project ‘Rehabilitation of Hydroelectric Power Plants’, the beneficiary of which is PJSC Ukrhydroenergo.

Ukraine and Kazakhstan are planning to deepen cooperation on oil trade and transit.

As reported, the Ministry of Energy joined the European Pure Hydrogen Alliance.
