The question on VostGOK is off the table – Shmyhal

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said that the problem of debts to VostGOK had been resolved so far. They continue to work on its systemic settlement. And joining the enterprise to Energoatom is one of the possible ways, the head of government noted during a briefing in Zaporizhzhia region, Kosatka.Media reports.

“The idea of joining VostGOK to Energoatom appeared 20 years ago. And it wasn’t solved. Politically, I am not opposed to this idea. And I voiced it as one of the ways to settle and resolve this issue. Therefore, for the Ministry of Energy, this is one of the issues that must be resolved in the near future. As well as the issue of coal mines and the deterioration of the power grid,” Shmyhal specified.

He recalled that there was a debt to VostGOK at the level of UAH 87 million. The miners blocked the road and demanded to pay off the debt. And the only one who can buy the products of VostGOK is Energoatom. This is prescribed by the law of Ukraine.

“The question has been cleared at this stage. Further, the task is to solve it systematically in terms of ensuring cash flow for VostGOK, paying for electricity, and avoiding wage arrears. This is being done by the Ministry of Energy. I personally assigned this task to the Acting Minister of Energy. Thanks to the management of Ukrenergo, which joined in resolving this issue. Then we work with banks,” said the Head of Government.

To recap, Shmyhal announced a large-scale renewal of power grids in Ukraine.

He also promised that in the near future a decision on PSO in the electricity market would be made.
