VostGOK will supply uranium concentrate to Energoatom
NNEGC Energoatom and SE VostGOK concluded a long-term contract (2020-2026) for the supply of uranium oxide concentrate, the press service reports.
“The uranium concentrate, which will be produced under the contract, is guaranteed to meet the needs of domestic nuclear energy in the volumes of uranium oxide concentrate specified in the contract for the production of fresh nuclear fuel”, the company said.
It is noted that the price level for uranium produced by SE VostGOK in a six-year agreement will ensure the stable operation of the enterprise and the development of the only uranium producer in Ukraine.
Earlier it was reported that Vostochny GOK would not be joined to Energoatom. The reorganization of VostGOK will be implemented in other ways, in particular, in 2020 it is planned to allocate funds from the state budget for the development of Novokostyantynivske uranium ore field.
VostGOK is the only uranium ore mining and processing enterprise in Ukraine and the largest in Europe. The concentrate is used to produce nuclear fuel (TVEL), which is loaded in nuclear reactors at nuclear power plants.
According to the IAEA, the Eastern Mining and Processing Plant produces 3.3% of the world's uranium concentrate.
