Zelenskyy instructed to transfer the functions of managing Energoatom to the Cabinet of Ministers

NNEGC Energoatom reports that President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy considers it necessary to urgently consider at a government meeting the issue of improving the management of the state enterprise National Atomic Energy Generating Company Energoatom.

This is stated in the Decree "On urgent measures to stabilize the situation in the energy sector and the further development of nuclear energy" dated September 22, 2020, published on the official website of the head of state.

In particular, on behalf of the President, the Cabinet of Ministers should accelerate the preparation and implementation of Energoatom's corporatization and in the near future take over the management functions of NNEGC.

It is also reported that the President of Ukraine instructed to start a project for completing the construction of power units No.3 and No.4 of KhNPP.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy instructed the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine within two months to submit for consideration by the Verkhovna Rada a draft law on the location, design and construction of power units No.3 and No.4 of Khmelnitskyi nuclear power plant.

“The Cabinet of Ministers was also instructed to develop a long-term program for the development of nuclear energy as part of the implementation of the Energy Strategy of Ukraine for the period up to 2035, as well as to take comprehensive measures to pay off debts to electricity producers, in particular to NNEGC Energoatom, formed as a result of their implementation of special responsibilities to ensure the public interest, ”the message says.
