How energy consumption has changed in Ukraine over 10 year-period

According to Ukrstat, the final energy and fuel consumption estimated at 47.8 million tons of oil equivalent in 2020, 3.7% less than in 2019 and 35.5% less than in 2010.

Among the major sources of energy in 2020, the share of natural gas remained the largest – 27.6%, the share of electricity amounted to 20.4%, crude oil and oil products – 20.3%.

At the same time, the share of gas consumption in 2020 increased by 0.5% compared to 2019 and decreased by 10.8% compared to 2010.

The share of heat consumption also decreased comparing to 2010 by 1.9%, but increased marginally compared to 2019 – by 0.5%.

In 2020, the share of electricity consumption increased by 0.2% compared to 2019, and by 4.8% compared to 2010.

The share of final consumption of biofuels increased three times compared to 2010, while oil – by 3.8%.

The share of coal and peat consumption has remained relatively the same for 10 years.
