Main indicators of the gas sector of Ukraine (September-2019)
According to the results of September 2019, 1.64 billion cubic meters of natural gas were produced by Ukrainian companies, which is 5.2% lower compared to the same period last year and 3.5% less than in the previous month. Natural gas production is as follows:
- January - 1.81 billion cubic meters;
- February - 1.64 billion cubic meters;
- March - 1.81 billion cubic meters;
- April - 1.70 billion cubic meters;
- May - 1.78 billion cubic meters;
- June - 1.69 billion cubic meters;
- July - 1.70 billion cubic meters;
- August - 1.70 billion cubic meters;
- September - 1.64 billion cubic meters.
The total production for 9 months amounted to 15.47 billion cubic meters. It should be noted that the average daily production in September amounted to 54.6 million cubic meters.
Gas transit through Ukraine decreased by 6.5% in September this year compared to the same period in 2018 and amounted to 6.76 billion cubic meters. Gas transit for 2019 is as follows:
- January - 7.61 billion cubic meters;
- February - 6.21 billion cubic meters;
- March - 7.18 billion cubic meters;
- April - 8.30 billion cubic meters;
- May - 8.36 billion cubic meters;
- June - 7.45 billion cubic meters;
- July - 8.11 billion cubic meters;
- August - 6.36 billion cubic meters;
- September - 6.76 billion cubic meters.
In total, 66.34 billion cubic meters were transported by gas pipelines in 2019.
Gas imports to Ukraine in September reached 2 billion cubic meters. Thus, in 2019, natural gas was imported in such volumes:
- January - 0.24 billion cubic meters;
- February - 0.66 billion cubic meters;
- March - 0.63 billion cubic meters;
- April - 0.88 billion cubic meters;
- May - 1.54 billion cubic meters;
- June - 1.66 billion cubic meters;
- July - 1.95 billion cubic meters;
- August - 2.04 billion cubic meters;
- September - 2.00 billion cubic meters.
According to the results of 9 months of this year, imports amounted to 11.60 billion cubic meters. High volumes of gas imports were triggered by favorable price offers on the market, as well as the preparation of Ukraine for a possible stop of gas transit from January 1, 2020.
In September, 2.18 billion cubic meters were pumped into underground gas storage facilities, and, as a result, at the end of the month more than 20.43 billion cubic meters of natural gas were in storages, which is 25.9% more than last year.
