A bipartisan group of senators plans to introduce a draft law on the expansion of US sanctions against the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline to Congress. It will target insurance companies that provide insurance services for ships involved in its construction. It is reported by Economichna Pravda.
The document also provides for sanctions against companies that provide “services or facilities for the modernization of technology, the installation of welding equipment, the refurbishment or docking” of ships.
Recall, the Swiss company Allseas, which is engaged in the laying of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, announced the suspension of work due to US sanctions.
Head of the Russian company Gazprom, Alexey Miller, said that Russia had no technological obstacles to complete the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. According to him, the gas pipeline could be completed by the end of 2020 using the Akademik Chersky ship.
It was previously reported that the EU court rejected the Nord Stream 2 lawsuit against the gas directive.
