The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMCU) will soon study the validity and transparency of tariffs for gas distribution and, if violations are detected, will oblige the National Commission, which carries out state regulation in the fields of energy and utilities (NKREKU), to correct the situation, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
“Tariffs for gas distribution. This is also the area of responsibility of NEURC. The Commission approves the tariffs for gas distribution services to each regional gas (which, in turn, is a subject of a natural monopoly in a particular region), regardless of who owns it. During July-December 2020, we witnessed an increase in gas distribution tariffs in the vast majority of regions. Besides, these tariffs differ significantly for different entities,” the AMCU concluded.
According to the NEURC, the rates for natural gas distribution services set by the regulator for January 2021 range from UAH 0.31 / cubic meter for Kyivgaz JSC and UAH 0.35/cubic meter for Kharkivgorgaz JSC to UAH 2.46/cubic meter for Gazpostachservice LLC and UAH 2.55/cubic meter for Gazovik LLC.
