AMCU recommends gas supplying companies not to raise gas prices for the population

The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMCU) has provided 16 gas supply companies with recommendations on natural gas prices for the population and timely informing about their changes, the press service reports.

Due to еру expiration of the Cabinet of Ministers’ decree on the maximum gas price till March 31, 2021, the AMCU sees the risks of an increase in natural gas prices for household consumers.

Besides, the committee also notes suppliers must publish the gas price on time – five days before its implementation, which will allow consumers to plan their own expenses or look for another supplier.

Taking into account the abovementioned, the AMCU recommended the following to gas suppliers at the meeting on March 23, 2021:

  • in the event of a change in natural gas prices, to take measures to timely inform household consumers before their introduction;
  • to take measures to set natural gas prices from April 1, 2021, at a level that would exist in conditions of the significant competition in the market for natural gas supplies to residential consumers.

To recap, the AMCU is investigating the decline in guaranteed coal stocks at TPP warehouses.

As reported, the AMCU opened cases against 6 gas sales companies.
