In February 2020, the wholesale price of natural gas for the needs of the population, heat producers for the population and other protected consumers, to whom Naftogaz of Ukraine supplies gas under PSO, will amount to UAH 3.95 thousand per thousand cubic meters (excluding VAT, margins of gas sales and gas transmission costs by main and distribution pipelines). This was reported by the press service.
It is noted that the price is 15% lower than in January 2020 and 37% lower than in February 2019.
“The price of 3.95 hryvnia per cubic meter is the lowest wholesale price of Naftogaz for the population since April 2016”, the report said.
It is expected that the government-approved approach to calculating gas prices for protected consumers will be valid until April 30, 2020. The price can fluctuate both in the direction of decrease and increase, depending on the market situation, the balance of supply and demand, weather conditions.
Ukraine has committed itself to completely liberalize the gas supply market to domestic consumers and to provide conditions for competition in this segment since May 1, 2020.
To recap, Naftogaz reported that in March the price of gas for industry would decrease by 12-15%.
