Gas price in Europe reached its maximum in a month – $229 per thousand cubic meters

Gas prices rose to $229 per thousand cubic meters for delivery on Monday. The reached level is the maximum over the last month – from February 11, Interfax reports.

Over the past week, natural gas has risen in price by 11%, and since the beginning of March – by 16%.

Since the beginning of the year, the average price of a day-ahead contract for TTF was $234 per thousand cubic meters.

The level of stocks in underground storage facilities in Europe on Sunday morning dropped to 32.56%.

According to the Gas Infrastructure Europe portal, gas stocks in Germany (on the main gas market in Europe) decreased to 27.27%, in Austria – to 31.79%, the Czech Republic – 31.56%, Poland – 41.57%, France – up to 18.72% (the lowest level among the countries of the region), Ukraine – 40.26%.

Gas withdrawal from UGS facilities in Europe continues until approximately the end of March (in 2020, net withdrawal was replaced by net injection on April 3, in 2019 – on March 22).

As reported, the Republicans are calling for new sanctions against Nord Stream 2.
