Gas production in Ukraine could grow to 23 billion cubic meters in 2-3 years

The implementation of special state programmes is to allow increasing gas production by 20% in 3-4 years and reducing gas consumption by 30-40%, the deputy head of the President's Office Rostyslav Shurma.

“To increase production from the current 18-19 billion cubic meters to at least 23-25 billion cubic meters of gas within the next three to four years,” the official said.

According to him, in March-April, the work to reduce the inefficient consumption of natural gas will begin, in particular, a thermal modernization programme will start.

“ 5000 homes are our goal for the next year. This programme will last from seven to ten years and assumes that the vast majority of 180 thousand multi-storey buildings will be thermally modernized, ”he said.

According to him, mass thermal modernization of social facilities will significantly reduce fuel consumption.

“In general, we expect that this will allow reducing gas consumption in our country by 30-40% cumulatively,” he said.

To recap, JSC Ukrgazvydobuvannya reduced gas production following the results of 11 months of the current year. Natural gas production during this period amounted to 12.49 billion cubic meters.

As reported, over the past 8 years, private mining companies in Ukraine have more than doubled their natural gas production.
