The European Commission wants to hold negotiations in the EU-Ukraine-Russia format regarding the future transit of Russian gas through Ukraine immediately after the presidential elections in Ukraine. It was stated by Vice-President of the European Commission Maroš Šefčovič in Brussels at a press conference.
“We all need to be aware that winter is around the corner. We must resolve the gas supply situation not only for the next winter, but, as you know, the top priority for the European Union is to ensure the security of a long-term transit contract through Ukraine for at least the next 10 years. This is our priority. We want to meet as soon as possible after the presidential elections in Ukraine”, he said.
Recall that the contract for the transit of Russian gas to Europe through the territory of Ukraine ends at the end of 2019. The parties have not reached agreement on this issue.
It was reported earlier that Naftogaz has signed a contract with the Norwegian company Wikborg Rein Advokatfirma AS, which provides legal support in the framework of the disputes of the NJSC with the Russian Gazprom.
