Germany included Naftogaz in the Nord Stream 2 certification process

The German Federal Network Agency (BundesNetzAgentur, BNetzA) has satisfied the application of the National Joint Stock Company Naftogaz of Ukraine to participate in the certification process for the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline operator, the press service reports.

“We welcome the decision of BNetzA and are ready to provide the regulator with our legal position in the near future. It is based on the fact that Nord Stream 2 cannot be certified without ensuring its full compliance with European and international legislation. We hope that BNetzA will consider our arguments properly,” the head of the company Yurii Vitrenko said.

He added that Nord Stream 2 does not meet a number of requirements of European legislation. Its operator is dependent on Gazprom; other customers are not provided with access to gas transportation along the entire length of the gas pipeline (from the starting point in Russia to the final point in Germany), as required by law.

BNetzA will decide to grant consent or refusal to certify the Nord Stream 2 operator by January 8, 2022.

The Ukrainian GTSO reported that the Federal Grid Agency had satisfied the company's request to participate in the certification procedure for the operator of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline (Nord Stream 2 AG).

In October, NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine and the Ukrainian GTS Operator applied for participation in the certification process for the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline operator.

Earlier, the German Green Party urged not to launch Nord Stream 2 until all EU conditions were met.
