The Cabinet of Ministers instructed Naftogaz to provide Moldova with gas without Gazprom’s participation

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine instructed Naftogaz, Ukrtransgaz, Vinnytsiagaz to ensure the supply of imported European gas to Moldova without Gazprom’s participation. This was reported on the government website.

The joint-stock companies Naftogaz and Ukrtransgaz, PJSC Vinnytsiagaz , Vinnytsia Regional State Administration, Ministry of Energy and the National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission (by agreement) to take all effective measures to provide gas to the city of Mogilev-Podolsky, Vinnytsia region (a city not far from the Ukrainian-Moldovan border) for solving the issue of Moldova’s import of gas from the EU without Gazprom’s participation”, the decree reads.

Moldova is now exporting Russian gas through the territory of Ukraine under an agreement with Gazprom since 2008. The agreement is continued annually and its provisions remain in force. According to the conditions, the price is calculated quarterly, depending on the price of oil at world markets. The current agreement for the supply of gas to Moldova is valid until December 31, 2019.

Earlier it was reported that before the elections, Moldova had received a discount on gas from Russia.
