The mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Klitschko, appealed to the Parliament regarding adopting the draft law №2458 on reducing the gas tariff, Energoreforma reports.
"I appeal to the deputies of the Parliament to immediately submit for consideration and adopt the draft law №2458. It will allow heat supply companies in Ukraine to apply a lower gas price and set lower prices for heat and hot water for the population. Both Kyivans and residents of other cities of Ukraine should pay a real – low price for services," Klitschko said during an online press conference.
He stressed that such a decree was valid only for the last heating season, but the government did not make a similar decision, which would concern the current heating season.
"Moreover, during this time, the Parliament was unable to adopt a draft law that would make it possible to apply the current gas price, which is 35% lower than the one used in 2018," said Klitschko.
To recap, gas prices in Europe went up to $186 per thousand cubic meters.
As reported, Ukraine is entirely ready for the heating season.
