Klitschko announced when heating will be turned on in Kiev
At the plenary session of the Kyiv City Council, Mayor Vitali Klitschko said that heat supply companies have already started supplying heat to municipal institutions of the capital, UNIAN reports.
Regarding heating in residential buildings, the head of the city has not yet named the exact date, however, he assured that this could happen in the coming days.
“Since the beginning of this week, heat supply enterprises in Kyiv have already begun to supply heat to hospitals, kindergartens, schools. We are based on weather conditions. And in a matter of days we can start the heating season for residential buildings,” the mayor said.
At the same time, Klitschko noted that the issue of the cost of natural gas remains relevant today, "which is already eight times higher than last year, and the one that is included in the tariff."
“Today we must make a decision in the interests of consumers, which, on the one hand, will make it possible to confidently enter winter, having the necessary gas reserves, and, on the other hand, to prevent an increase in the heat tariff for the population. For this, we can and must use additional resources,” the mayor said, without specifying what exactly was being discussed.
At the end of September, local authorities, Naftogaz and the Cabinet of Ministers signed a memorandum stating that heat tariffs in Ukraine would not increase until the end of the heating season.
Local authorities were able to buy gas for heating budgetary institutions this heating season at a price of UAH 13.6/ cubic meter (excluding VAT).
Earlier, Klitschko said that the pipes are ready, but there was no money for heating.
