The Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation expects to be able to negotiate with Ukraine on the transit of gas

The Russian Ministry of Energy expects the Russian Federation and Ukraine to agree on the extension of the contract for the transit of gas through Ukraine to the European Union after 2019. It was stated by the Deputy Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation Anatoly Yanovsky.

According to him, the final meeting of Ukraine, Russia and the EU can take place in September-October 2019. In May, the next meeting is scheduled.

“We expect that to some extent we will be able to agree with Ukraine on the transit of gas after 2020. If this does not happen in May, it will probably happen in October”, he said.

The transit of Russian gas through Ukraine is a major issue. Thanks to it, the Ukrainian budget receives a significant amount of money.

It was reported earlier that part of the Nord Stream2 may be removed from the jurisdiction of the EU. A consortium, which is building a gas pipeline, is considering the option of creating a separate company that will own and manage the last part of the gas pipeline.
