Moldova to store gas stocks in Ukrainian UGS – Makohon

Head of Gas TSO Serhii Makohon wrote on his Facebook that Moldova would store gas in Ukrainian underground storage facilities.

“The first deliveries have already begun. According to Moldovagaz, it is expected to pump about 100 million m3 of gas during October-November,” the message says.

As reported, the issue of creating gas stocks for Moldova in Ukraine began to be actively worked out in the summer of 2019, when there was uncertainty with the continuation of transit through Ukraine.

He stressed that such a reserve guarantees the energy security of Moldova and reduces dependence on a single gas supplier.

"Ukraine is becoming the guarantor of regional energy security."
