Heating will be turned on in all houses in Kyiv this week – Klitschko

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said that during an online press conference, social infrastructure facilities and almost half of the city's residential buildings were already receiving heat in Kyiv, reports RBC-Ukraine.

“Kyiv began the heating season on Friday, October 16. Today, social facilities are already receiving heat - hospitals, schools, kindergartens, and other social infrastructure institutions. Also, the heat was supplied to almost half of the residential buildings in the capital. Most of the connected houses today are in Holosiivskyi, Dniprovskyi, Pecherskyi, and Svyatoshynskyi districts. Let me remind you that the city needs about a week to fully launch the centralized heating system - 2.7 thousand kilometers long to almost 12 thousand houses. Therefore, we are gradually bringing in the coolant. And if problems arise, we quickly eliminate them,” Klitschko said.

He noted that the City Housing and Utilities Inspectorate will now make sure that Kyiv's houses are warm. Also, inspectors will check how public utilities respond to complaints from residents of the capital.

“I would like to note that in September, during the preparation for the heating season, the Inspectorate carried out more than 400 inspections. By their results, many shortcomings have already been eliminated,” he said.

Earlier, the debts of 5 thermal power enterprises threaten the timely start of the heating season in Kyiv.
