Naftogaz discovered a new gas condensate field in Poltava region

Ukrgazvydobuvannya announced the discovery of a new gas condensate field in Poltava region.

It is noted that the Pearl field has 2 billion cubic meters of prospective gas reserves and resources for Ukraine, as well as 200 million cubic meters of proven gas reserves.

The company said that a new exploration well confirmed the presence of gas deposits in the Pearl area at a depth of 6150 m. The daily production from the well reaches 100 thousand cubic meters of gas.

The total area of the new field is 213 km²; 5 gas-saturated horizons have been identified within it. Further, it is planned to carry out 3D seismic to detail the geological structure of the field and determine the optimal locations for drilling new wells.

“Geological exploration of new areas and the discovery of new deposits on them is the No.1 task for Naftogaz today. This is the only way we will be able to increase the resource base, which means - to stabilize gas production in Ukraine. Now Naftogaz is actively working with all new promising areas that are in the company's portfolio. The discovery of the Pearl deposit, which was carried out in challenging conditions, is a confirmation of this. And only the sites that the company has are not enough to radically change the situation. It is necessary to resolve the issue of studying the largest areas on land and sea as soon as possible, which have significant resource potential and are still not being developed. This needs to be changed. Naftogaz, having extensive experience and expertise in working with new complex assets, is ready to carry out work as soon as possible," said Oleksandr Romaniuk, director of the Naftogaz Exploration and Production division.

As reported, Naftogaz and Nadra Ukrainy signed a purchase and sale agreement for the Yuzovske field.
