Naftogaz to require Gazprom to pay, despite the halt at Sohranivka station

NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine, which had informed Gazprom that transit through the territories occupied by the Russian Federation was impossible and suggested changing the entry point, is expecting further payment from Gazprom in its any decision, the Chairman of the Board of NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine Yurii Vitrenko said.

“As far as I remember, back in 2019, Miller and I signed a transit contract with a “pump or pay” clause. Therefore, whether to transit or not is the right of Gazprom to decide. However, paying, even if they don’t supply gas, is the contractual debt,” Vitrenko wrote.

He emphasised that a new arbitration is possible if there is no payment.
