NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine together with government representatives developed a new mechanism for determining the regulated price, which allows not only to avoid raising the cost of gas for the population and thermal generation from May 1, 2019, but also to reduce it to the level of 8247 per thousand cubic meters (final retail price). The press service of the company announces it.
Such an agreement was adopted at a meeting with the participation of the Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman and the Head of the Board of Naftogaz Andriy Kobolyev.
The developed mechanism assumes the following approach to pricing: if the market price for industrial consumers is lower than that established in the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of October 19, 2018 No.867, the price for the population decreases accordingly. If the market price for industry exceeds the level set by the government, the price of gas for the population will remain at that level.
It is expected that changes to the existing gas sale agreements between Naftogaz and all counterparties who buy gas in accordance with the requirements of the “Provision on imposing special obligations on the natural gas market entities to ensure public interests during the operation of the natural gas market” will be adopted in May 2019.
It was reported earlier that the Prime Minister of Ukraine instructed the NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine to sell gas for the needs of the population at a lower price than the price of gas set for output on special obligations – 8.55 UAH/cubic meter.
