Naftogaz paid billions of hryvnias for imported gas

The head of NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine, Yurii Vitrenko, said that in 2021 the company spent UAH 86 billion on the purchase of imported gas and its production.

He announced this on the air of the Freedom of speech programme on ICTV.

According to Vitrenko, Naftogaz allocated UAH 42 billion for the purchase of imported gas, and UAH 44 billion for Ukrainian gas in 2021.

Naftogaz imported 77% of all gas imported to Ukraine.

“But the problem is that prices on the gas market are determined precisely by Putin’s policy. It is quite difficult to predict it. Nobody understands when he will increase gas supplies to the European market, and when he will decrease it. Will Europe somehow oppose this,” Vitrenko said.

Together with the delivery in June-December, Naftogaz imported about 2.5 billion cubic meters.

To recap, Naftogaz reported on financial losses of 2021.

As reported, Ukraine reduced the volume of gas imports from the EU by 92% in November.
